- IADI’s 2027 work will focus on implementing the Core Principles, strengthening the resilience of deposit insurance systems in the digital era and improving crisis preparedness.
- The General Assembly elected eight members to the IADI Executive Council.
- The Annual Conference examined what constitutes a deposit in the digital era and considered the modernisation of deposit insurance and crisis readiness in a changing digital financial system.
Berlin, 30 October 2026: The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) concluded its 86th Executive Council meeting, 25th Annual General Meeting and Annual Conference in Berlin. During the meetings, IADI approved its 2027 work priorities and elected eight members to the Executive Council.
The meetings were hosted by the Compensation Scheme of German Private Banks (Entschädigungseinrichtung deutscher Banken, EdB) and the Deposit Protection Fund of the Association of German Banks. They brought together deposit insurers and financial safety net authorities from around the world to discuss effective deposit insurance and financial stability in the digital era.
“Digital innovation is changing how people hold and move money, but it does not change what makes deposit insurance credible: clarity about what is protected, confidence that the promise will be honoured and the capacity to act quickly when it matters. IADI’s 2027 work programme will help deposit insurers address emerging risks and remain prepared to protect depositors in a crisis,” said Alejandro López, President of IADI.
2027 Work Priorities
The 2027 Work Priorities are the first annual work programme under IADI’s Strategic Goals and Objectives 2026-2031. They focus on three areas:
- supporting consistent implementation of the Core Principles;
- strengthening the resilience of deposit insurance systems in the digital era; and
- enhancing crisis preparedness.
Under the first priority, IADI will complete the revised Handbook for the Assessment of Compliance with the Core Principles. The Handbook will support IADI’s assessment and training work.
To strengthen resilience in the digital era, IADI will focus on public awareness of deposit insurance coverage and the implications of integrating digital assets into the financial system for the scope of coverage.
To improve crisis preparedness, IADI will examine the interaction between deposit insurers and resolution authorities, update its reimbursement guidance, begin work on the investment of deposit insurance funds and promote regular crisis simulation exercises.
IADI will also continue its annual data collection and engagement with international bodies, including the Financial Stability Board and the Bank for International Settlements.

At the Annual General Meeting, IADI Members elected the following eight members to the Executive Council:

- Patrick Déry, Autorité des marchés financiers, Québec, Canada
- Hilmar Zettler, Deposit Protection Fund of the Association of German Banks, Germany
