This month, three Member institutions released updated 2025 Annual Reports, Malaysia’s deposit insurer welcomed new leadership, and registration is open for three upcoming IADI events. Here’s what’s new across the deposit insurance community.

Leadership Transition at PIDM

The Malaysia Deposit Insurance Corporation (PIDM) begins its next chapter under the leadership of Afiza Abdullah, its Chief Executive Officer for a three-year term, effective 28 August 2026, succeeding Mr Rafiz Azuan Abdullah’s tenure as CEO.

With more than two decades of experience in banking and insurance, Afiza brings deep expertise in financial sector regulation, policy development, crisis management and resolution. Prior to her appointment as CEO, she served as PIDM’s Executive Vice President, Resolution and General Manager, Policy and International. Earlier in her career, she spent almost a decade at Bank Negara Malaysia, where she contributed to prudential policy development and major financial sector reforms.

PIDM Releases Annual Report 2025

PIDM has released its Annual Report 2025, marking the organisation’s 20th anniversary and the completion of its Corporate Plan 2023-2025, themed “Realising Readiness”. The report highlights PIDM’s progress in strengthening Malaysia’s financial safety net, enhancing public awareness and confidence, advancing organisational resilience, and fostering domestic and international collaboration.

It also reflects on two decades of protecting depositors and policy owners while supporting financial system stability, and provides an early look at PIDM’s next strategic chapter, “From Readiness to Resilience”, under its Corporate Plan 2026-2028.

PDIC Publishes 2025 Annual Report

The Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has published its 2025 Annual Report, available in both Arabic and English. The report sets out PDIC’s accomplishments over the year and discloses its annual financial performance. Read the report in English or Arabic.

On the Horizon

  • IADI 25th Annual General Meeting and Conference
    Hosted by the Compensation Scheme of German Private Banks and the Deposit Protection Fund of the Association of German Banks at the Titanic Hotel, Berlin, 26-30 October 2026. The conference focuses on modernising deposit insurance for the digital age, with panels on defining a deposit in an era of digital substitutes, operationalising the revised Core Principles on reimbursement speed, funding and cyber resilience, and setting the policy agenda for crisis readiness. Online registration is open, with a deadline of 30 September 2026.

  • IADI Analysis and Policy Joint Technical Gathering
    Held in person at BIS headquarters in Basel on 1 December 2026, with a virtual option available, the gathering brings together IADI’s Analysis and Policy Council Committees, Technical Committees, and the Differential Coverage Technical Working Group. Sessions cover updates to the 2012 Reimbursement Guidance Papers, fintech and digital coverage rules, cooperation with resolution authorities, and differential coverage case studies. The gathering runs back-to-back with the Resolution Conference 2026 below, and participants may register for both. Registration closes 6 November 2026.

  • IADI-FSI-FSB Conference, “Ready for Crisis: Effective Tools for All Eventualities”
    Jointly organised by IADI, the Financial Stability Institute, and the Financial Stability Board, this Resolution Conference takes place at BIS headquarters in Basel, 2-3 December 2026. Sessions will cover the operational implementation of resolution regimes, cooperation between deposit insurers and resolution authorities, testing of resolution transfer tools, public backstop funding mechanisms, and cross-sectoral lessons from insurance and financial market infrastructures.
