On behalf of the Latin America, Caribbean and North America Regional Committees, the Fondo Garantía de Depósitos (Costa Rica) is delighted to invite you to the IADI 10th Americas Deposit Insurance Forum Enhancing Deposit Insurance Coverage and Reimbursement: Adapting to Digital Innovation, Emerging Risks, and Operational Challenges.
The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cariari San Jose, Costa Rica. The agenda is attached for your reference.
Discussions will focus on enhancing depositor protection and reimbursement performance as financial systems digitalise and face emerging risks. The event convenes deposit insurers, central banks, supervisors, resolution authorities, and partners to translate policy developments into practical, operational approaches.
Core discussions will cover differential coverage – its policy rationale, design choices, and operational requirements – drawing on international examples such as temporary high balances, FX coverage, and transaction account schemes. The programme will also examine the growing role of digital intermediaries (brokers, reciprocal networks, embedded finance) and their implications for coverage, data quality, depositor communication, and risk management.
Sessions on faster payouts and simulations will emphasise the importance of clean depositor records, automation, real-time information sharing, and modern disbursement channels to achieve seven-day reimbursements, with the aspiration of reducing this to three days for the majority.
Additional panels will address deposit insurance fund investment frameworks and crisis preparedness for cyber and third-party outages.
Online registration is now open. The registration deadline for this event is 20 August 2026.
