About DPC
The Deposit Protection Corporation, Zimbabwe (DPC) is a statutory body established on 1 July 2003 under the name Deposit Protection Board. It was established through the Banking Act [Chapter 24:20] as read with Banking (Deposit Protection) Regulations, Statutory Instrument 29 of 2003.
On 16 March 2012, it assumed the name Deposit Protection Corporation in terms of the Deposit Protection Act [Chapter 24:29], No. 7/2011. DPC’s current mandate is derived from section 5 of the DPC Act and includes; participation in the resolution of failing or failed banks, compensation of insured depositors and liquidation of closed banks.
In the event of a bank failure, DPC will compensate depositors part or all of their funds that were in the closed bank up to the maximum cover limit prevailing at the time of bank closure.

To protect depositors, enhance public confidence and stability in the financial system by promoting sound business practices and speedy resolution of failed contributory institutions.
