Public consultation on the Revised Version of the IADI Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems
Please submit comments by 14 July 2025.
The International Association of Deposit Insurers invites comments on the revised Core Principles for Effective Deposit Insurance Systems (Core Principles) and the accompanying questions.
Comments from external respondents will be published on IADI’s website after the consultation closes, unless respondents explicitly request otherwise on the online form. Once the final Core Principles document is adopted, a report summarising external respondents’ comments will be published on the IADI website.
Background
The 2025 revision of the Core Principles builds on the versions issued in 2009 and 2014. It incorporates key developments in the evolving financial landscape, including the impact of digital innovation, the growing role of deposit insurers in resolution processes, and challenges stemming from the 2023 banking turmoil.
The Core Principles serve as the international standard for deposit insurance systems, offering guidance to jurisdictions on designing and assessing effective systems that protect depositors and contribute to financial stability. Assessing a deposit insurance system helps identify its strengths and weaknesses, as well as potential measures that deposit insurers and policymakers can implement to enhance the system and address any shortcomings.
Consultation
IADI has prepared a set of consultation questions to gather feedback on its work related to the Core Principles review process. Answering the questions is optional, and respondents may choose to comment on only a subset.
Interested parties are invited to submit their feedback by 14 July at 23:59 CEST. After this deadline, the consultation tool will close, and it will no longer be possible to submit comments.
How to Participate
The consultation will open shortly. Please use the designated platform to submit your comments. Only comments submitted through this tool will be reviewed and considered.
