1If a jurisdiction has not introduced deposit insurance, shows some interest doing so and any of the following conditions are satisfied, it is classified under “Systems under construction”.
(1) A jurisdiction shows intention to set up deposit insurance system within three years. There is a schedule of introduction of DIS within at most three years.
(2) A jurisdiction shows some intentions to make a law.
Following situations are included in this category:
· The jurisdiction has directly or indirectly expressed it is in the final stage of preparation of a law.
· The jurisdiction has directly or indirectly expressed its intention to make a draft law within a year.
(3) A jurisdiction is in the process of making a law.
Following situations are included in this category:
· The jurisdiction has published a consultation paper for introducing DIS.
· The jurisdiction is making a draft law.
· The jurisdiction has published draft laws for consultation.
· The jurisdiction has brought draft laws to parliament.
· The jurisdiction has discussed draft laws in the parliament.
· The jurisdiction has passed laws of DIS, but the Deposit insurance organization has not been set up yet.
2Law on the Establishment of a Deposit Insurance system for Financial Institutions in Kosovo was approved by Assembly on October 2010 and promulgated on November 2010. Fund is expected to start operation on April 2011.
3If a jurisdiction has not introduced deposit insurance, shows some interests in deposit insurance and is not classified as “Systems under construction”, it is classified under “Systems under study”.
