IADI Research

Facilitating the sharing and exchange of expertise and information on deposit insurance issues is one of the key objectives of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI). IADI produces research products including, research plans, research (discussion) papers and guidance papers. The projects are initiated under the direction of the Research and Guidance Committee (RGC). The objective of these products is to provide academia, policy makers, deposit insurers and others with guidance and research data to improve the effectiveness of deposit insurance system in their respective jurisdictions. The topics address deposit insurance issues relating to policy, operational, legal and other areas related to running a deposit insurance system.

The process for producing a final report (either research oriented or guidance) involves drafting a plan; undertaking research through collection and analysis of data, case studies or other methodologies; developing guidance from the research; and validating the guidance by engaging in consultations through conferences and reviews by authoritative parties. To date, IADI has undertaken research and developed guidance that is applicable to a wide range of deposit insurance settings, circumstance and structures.

Research and Guidance Committee
The RGC has been divided into three groups–a Research Group, an Islamic Deposit Insurance Group and a Guidance Group. The Research Group conducts research, the Islamic Deposit Insurance Group focuses on Islamic deposit insurance issues, and the Guidance Group examines research findings, ensures quality control, and identifies suitable core principles and supporting guidance.
Strategic Plan for the Development and Promotion of IADI Research, Guidance and Core Principles
To facilitate the accomplishment of the above-mentioned objectives of Guidance Group, IADI established a strategic plan for the Guidance Group.
